Welcome!

Institutional Stove Solutions (InStove) is a non-profit humanitarian organization dedicated to relieving suffering, improving health and reducing harm to the environment through renewable energy technology. Since our founding in 2012 we have worked in 31 countries, deploying more than 1,200 cookstoves.  Our stoves run on small amounts of wood making them ideal for low-resource settings. While we are continuing our work abroad we are also turning our focus to the Oregon coast. Recently InStove began a partnership with the Oregon Food Bank and the Oregon Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster to place stoves in rural communities in an effort to prepare for potential disasters.

“We’ve seen the powerful impact that InStoves have had overseas in hospitals, orphanages, school feeding programs, and refugee camps overseas,” said Fred Colgan, founder and director of InStove. “InStoves have a lot of potential in terms of emergency response in the U.S. – for example, in responding to large-scale forest fires like those in California last month. We’re excited to work with local partners to help implement InStove technology here in Oregon.”
